East Fife offers golfers some fantastic courses, not least of
which being St Andrews - the home of golf - only ten miles away.
There are at least thirty courses within an hour’s drive;
here we have simply selected a few of the treasures closest to
Crail.
Crail Golfing Society – Balcomie Links
Balcomie
Links is situated at Fife Ness, the most easterly point of the East
Neuk of Fife, and is a spectacular course offering a testing challenge
to golfers of all abilities. When you walk these splendid links
you are following in the footsteps of thousands of golfers over
two centuries. It is a beautiful course, not too long, and full
of interest, with views of the sea from every tee. As befits a classic
links set-up, each
of the holes has its own character, which makes
for a fascinating round of golf.
Crail
Golfing Society - Craighead Links
This second links at Fife Ness was completed in 1998 and is set
to join Balcomie as one of Scotland's must-play courses. A longer
course, it has wide sweeping fairways and testing greens, making
it a fair challenge. Be warned - there are hungry bunkers aplenty!
No two consecutive holes face the same direction and with the
constantly changing conditions there is enough variety to test
golfers of all abilities.

Andrews Links - Old Course
The famed ‘Home of Golf’ – the game having been
played here since the 15th century. A ballot system is used and
a handicap certificate is required. 10 miles from Crail.

Andrews Links - New Course
Laid out in 1895, the ‘New’ Course is St Andrews’
best kept secret. Order of play is determined by arrival at the
starter. 10 miles from Crail.

Andrews Links - Castle Course
Be one of the first to try the much anticipated seventh course
of the Links Trust, opening in July 2008. A clifftop course with
links character, the views out to sea are spectacular. 8 miles
from Crail.
Kingsbarns
Golf Links
Scarcely rated outside of the top 30 golf courses in the world,
the celebrated architecture and views to the sea from every hole
make this course a treat to be savoured.
Anstruther
Golf Club
Set along the coast in this picturesque old fishing village, Anstruther
is proud of its intriguing 9 hole course suitable for golfers
of any age or experience. 4 miles away.
The Golf
House Club, Elie
Dating back to 1589, Elie is at times a typical seaside links course,
but it does hold a few surprises, so be warned. Ballot system from
July to August. 9 miles from Crail.
