The East Neuk of Fife is home to many golf courses and there are about 50 courses within easy reach of The Golf Hotel, but we have selected a few of the best ones closest to Crail.....

Crail Golfing Society – Balcomie Links
Balcomie Links is at Fife Ness, the most easterly point in the East Neuk of Fife. A spectacular course offering a testing challenge to golfers of all abilities. Walk the splendid links and follow in the footsteps of thousands of golfers over two centuries. It’s a beautiful course and full of interest, with views of the sea from every tee. As befits a classic links set-up, each of the holes has its own character, which makes for a fascinating round of golf.

Crail Golfing Society - Craighead Links
The second links at Fife Ness, completed in 1998, has joined Balcomie Links as one of Scotland's must-play courses. A longer course, it has wide sweeping fairways and testing greens, making it a fair challenge. Be warned - there are hungry bunkers aplenty! No two consecutive holes face the same direction and with the constantly changing conditions there is enough variety to test golfers of all abilities.

St Andrews Links - Old Course
The famous ‘Home of Golf’, the game has been played on The Old Course since the 15th century. A ballot system is used to select players for each day, and a handicap certificate is required. 10 miles from Crail.

St Andrews Links - New Course
Laid out in 1895, the ‘New’ Course is St Andrews’ best kept secret. Order of play is determined by arrival at the starter. 10 miles from Crail.

St Andrews Links - Castle Course
The seventh course of the Links Trust opened in July 2008. A clifftop course with links character, the views out to sea and over the historic town of St Andrews town are spectacular. 8 miles from Crail.

Kingsbarns Golf Links
Seldom rated outside the top 30 golf courses of the world, the celebrated architecture and views to the sea from every hole make this course a treat to be savoured. 3 miles from Crail.

Anstruther Golf Club
Along the coast in an old fishing village, Anstruther is proud of its intriguing 9 hole course which is suitable for golfers of any age or experience. 4 miles away.

The Golf House Club, Elie
Dating back to 1589, Elie is at times a typical seaside links course, but it does hold a few surprises, so be warned! Ballot system from July to August.  9 miles from Crail.
